When I lived in New York, I discovered a fitness scene unlike anywhere else in the world. Don’t get my wrong, Angelenos are probably just as obsessed with fitness but the only difference is that in LA you have plenty of outdoor activities to keep you fit. In New York, the weather can make the opportunity for open-air workouts a bit more narrow.
Back in my New York days, a fitness phenomenon swept Manhattan. The concept was simple. Pay one monthly fee and hit a bunch of different fitness studios. The pioneer of this concept was FITIST, which was established in 2011. Unfortunately, it seems as though FITIST has since tanked and it’s no wonder since a much larger, better, stronger newcomer came into the scene.
Since launching in early 2013, ClassPass has facilitated over 1,500,000 reservations at different classes in over twenty markets around the country including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston.
ClassPass is the ultimate gym membership for those of us on the road a lot. Why? You can actually change your location so that you can workout in whatever city you are traveling to!
