Day two of exploring Downtown Napa started bright and early. We walked over from the hotel to Model Bakery in Oxbow Public Market. This is a casual spot to grab breakfast and sit outside on the benches while sipping on cappuccinos and scarfing down a breakfast burrito. After breakfast, we explored Oxbow and checked out the various food stalls and shops. Next on the agenda…all aboard on the Napa Valley Wine Train! A great experience that I highly recommend. We visited Charles Krug and Raymond Vineyards, the latter being one of the most interesting wineries I’ve yet to visit – peacocks, goats, Mannequins dressed in sequin party wear were all over the place, as were mirrors on the stainless vats. With dance music playing throughout, I couldn’t help but wonder if I had somehow stumbled into a winery turned nightclub. Later that evening, we enjoyed a taste of Asia at Eight Noodle for dinner. This small noodle shop is a casual eatery for those looking for a more relaxed dinner scene.
The next morning, after a quick breakfast at C Casa, we went on a bike ride to Judd’s Hill Winery for a wine and food pairing. I’d highly recommend doing a pairing at the beginning of a wine trip as it really opens your senses to the tastes and smells of different varietals and how food is used to change the taste of wines. It was a great way to conclude an incredible trip exploring Downtown Napa!
