Over the weekend, in celebrating Father’s Day, my family and I rented a duffy boat (something which is now becoming an annual tradition) and took a cruise around Newport Harbor. Even though I grew up in Newport, going on duffy rides never gets old and is one of my favorite things to do when I am in town.
Some places of note to see, and where my personal favorite homes, are located on Harbor Island, a private island with about thirty homes on it, all of which have waterfront property. Other notable properties include the former home of Nicolas Cage which he sold for $35 million several years ago.
Cruising around Newport Harbor is a great way to explore Newport Beach from the water and get to see the million-dollar homes that line the bay front. Being the wine lover that I am, a few bottles always accompany my boating excursions. It is rather easy to pack small appetizers as well and I recommend cruising around for two hours. While duffy boats are easy to drive, make sure to always have a designated driver on board. Getting pulled over by Harbor Patrol just isn’t fun. Trust me.
Such a fun day with my wonderful family honoring the best dad in the world!
