Situated in Seville’s Santa Cruz, Hotel Palacio de Villapanés is every traveler’s dream hotel. It is without a doubt that this hotel has set itself apart from other properties in Seville – you get to stay in a former palace! This five-star hotel has truly earned each and every one of it’s stars.
Hotel Palacio de Villapanés is an 18th-century mansion that has been renovated to perfecting and turned into the one of the city’s most fashionable hotels. From the moment I drove up, after spending a few hours driving south from Córdoba, the staff quickly came to help me with my car and assist with my bags.
Upon entering the hotel, I fell in love with the beautiful courtyard, complete with a fountain in the center. I was offered tea or coffee upon arrival – a little gesture that is always appreciated. My room was ready and I was so eager to see what was behind the door – as if it couldn’t get any better and it certainly did. Mastering hotel rooms is an art. I stay in countless rooms and few have been as unique and original as the suites at the Palacio de Villapanés.
The rooms are huge and have giant vaulted ceilings, large wooden doors complete with flatscreen TV and even a desktop Mac…who could complain? I was head over heels in love. There was a small sitting area in the corner where I already imagined myself curled up with my laptop.
The bathroom had a brilliant blue tiling complete with a giant bathtub that I couldn’t resist drawing a bath later to soak my feet from all the roaming around the city that I’d do.
Breakfast each morning was indeed a highlight and the staff in the breakfast room were always attentive to make sure everyone was taken care of. The breakfast spread was rather basic with bread, fruits and yogurt. I was a little surprised to find no cheese (being the cheese lover that I am) on the buffet. There is an a la carte menu that you can order from at an additional charge. I loved the design of the breakfast room and the little purple sweet pea flowers on the tables were a nice added touch.
One more thing to love is that there is a rooftop with a jacuzzi. Seeing as it was winter, it wasn’t exactly bikini season but regardless of what time of year it is, do not miss the views! I caught an incredible sunset.
The service at the Palacio de Villapanés is exceptional and the concierge steered me in the direction of some phenomenal restaurants. It is walking distance to everything you’d want to see in Seville – although I’d suggest taking a taxi at night…especially if you’re in heels! All around an excellent stay and highly recommended during a visit to Seville and will make your stay everything and more.
My stay at Hotel Palacio de Villapanés was provided complimentary. As always, my opinion is my own.
