Inside the 1897 original architecture, the contemporary designed Hotel Sixtytwo Barcelona is tastefully decorated. The rather small lobby is just inside giant doors leading to Paseo de Gracia, one of Barcelona’s best shopping streets. One thing that I particularly loved was the free cava served every evening in the bar lounge for happy hour.
The Room
As soon as I walked in my room I was pleasantly surprised. For some reason, I had expected the rooms to be rather small as they are in most European countries but this was not the case. The room was huge and tastefully decorated. The suite that I was staying in was equipped with all the necessary amenities – Nespresso machine, flat screen TV, large desk and even a daybed style sofa at the end of the bed. The minibar was fully stocked with all the usual suspects that are perfect for a midnight craving of something sweet or salty. The outside terrace was spacious and offered incredible views of the Barcelona. I strongly suggest upgrading to a room with a terrace – especially during summer! Those looking to have goodies delivered to their rooms are in luck. Room service is served from 7:30am till 11:00pm.
Around the Hotel
From 7:30am until 10:30am on week days, and until 11:00am on Sundays, a buffet style breakfast is served as well as dishes à la carte. The buffet had a great selection of cheese, breads, even some desserts! The Sixtytwo Cocktail Lounge is open from 6:00 pm until 1:00 am from Monday to Sunday. One thing I particularly loved about this bar was that complimentary drinks were served nearly all day long – flavored waters, teas, and coffee depending on the time of day. Then when it’s time for happy hour, free cava is served.
