Set high in the foothills of Montecito lies one of the most beautiful properties in Southern California – perhaps all of California for that matter. Even during the winter months, the trees are green and the flowers blooming, making this place almost too good to be true. Small, quaint cottages at an intimate, upscale ranch – this is San Ysidro.
For the lucky few who get to stay here (prices are by no means economical) the ranch is an experience in itself. From an outdoor (and indoor) fitness center to an organic garden to a sparkling pool which is still completely inviting even in the winter months.
The Stonehouse Restaurant is located in a 19th-century citrus packing house and features a relaxing lounge with full bar service and a separate dining room with a crackling fireplace and creek side views. The food is fresh and the service is top-notch. I had the local yellowtail and enjoyed the most incredible bottle of Peter Michel L’Après-Midi.
Be sure to stop by San Ysidro Ranch, even if just for lunch during your visit to Santa Barbara.
