After leaving Brussels and having way too much fun at Sofitel Le Louise, I decided that it would be best to continue with the Sofitel tradition. Before heading to Oktoberfest in Munich, I wanted to make a stop in the little country of Luxembourg and check out the Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal.
I am obsessed with Sofitel hotels. A member of the Accor Hotels group, Sofitels take the hotel experience to an entirely new level. If there is a Sofitel in the city you are traveling to, stay there! And then of course thank me later for the tip.
Upon my arrival at the hotel, I was warmly greeted but due to my early arrival my room wasn’t quite ready. Fortunately, the lobby is WiFi equipped and contemporary cool.
At the Hotel
Sofitel Le Grand Ducal is impressive in every sense of the word. But what makes this hotel really fantastic is it’s location. It has an incredible view of Luxembourg over the Alzette and Pétrusse valleys.
The hotel has a cocktail lounge on the 8th floor called Coco Mango which offers sweeping panoramic views of the city. This bar is the perfect place to come at sunset for a glass of champagne while listening to live music. As I sat in the bar, I noticed that this was a hot spot – not just for hotel guests but for Luxembourg’s chic youth.
Located adjacent the bar is the hotel restaurant serving French cuisine and appropriately named L’Etoile. Here is where I had my breakfast as well which was on par.
The Room
There is no other word to describe my room than “unreal.” It was huge – and I mean huge. Well-designed and perfectly laid out, I was in heaven. I just hoped that they would let me move in. Then again, I feel that way about all Sofitel hotels. In my room, there was a giant bathtub overlooking the city, a giant king-size bed with a flat screen TV perfectly situated at the end of the bed.
Luxembourg
The city of Luxembourg is incredible and the perfect city for those who love to explore on foot. It is filled with history, beauty and nature. The city (and country’s capital) only has a population of approximately 100,000 and the entire city has a total are of 51.46 km2 (19.87 sq mi). Be sure to visit this city and I wholeheartedly recommend staying at Le Grand Ducal.
My stay at Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal was provided complimentary. As always, my opinion is my own.
